New York, New York!

Hello fellow adventurers,

to this moment I am still sorta speechless and can't really realize where I am... In my mind I am either still in Frankfurt or just here on vacation.
But back to the start:
My flight departed at 8:30am today, which is why my family and me drove to Frankfurt on Sunday to sleep over instead of staying up all night. Saying bye bye was very difficult and I've cried many tears. On the other hand, getting to the training school took a long time, but was okay.
The school is honestly a piece of crap... I feel dirty even looking at my "bed" and I just want to get to my hostfamily.
I am not too homesick yet, which probably changes as soon as I am alone in my room tonight. But I'll try not to cry much and I'm avoiding calling home, just until I am in SF!

Now I'm really too tired to write more and better. Pictures will follow; see you tomorrow.

Stay awesome,
Ellie

Mind the tears!

Hello fellow adventurers,

I now have about a week left to pack and say bye bye to all the bitches here... It feels like I leave forever although I know it's "only" a year. I hope I'm not the only Au Pair that bursts out crying out of nowhere... All of this is just so very surreal and I guess I'll need a couple of weeks to catch up with reality.
Ok what else.. I spend every waking minute thinking and calculating what I'm gonna pack and what I can live without for a year. Not as easy as it sounds people! Technically I'm allowed to take two suitcases, my carry-on and a laptop bag thingy. But who has the nerves to walk around NYC with all of that? I know I don't. Short temper doesn't even begin to describe how quickly I'll stab a bitch when I'm annoyed or stressed. Just saying... I'm working on it so calm your tits.
So this was just a quick update for all of you. Let me know if I should talk about a certain thing etc.
Of course I'll also post something about the gifts for my host family but I'm waiting until after I give them to them in the less than probable case that they find this blog (aaawkwaaaaaaard). And just a disclaimer: I know I've bought way too many presents but sometimes I can't stop myself and I also might keep some of the stuff to give away on Christmas which is also approaching faster than you can say ... *insert something incredibly hilarious*

That's it for now guys!

Boring-ass errands...CHECK!

Hello fellow adventurers,

a few days have passed and those who are not wasting time on Twitter like me, might want an update. Not much has happened, so this'll be quick for a change.

SO! Last Monday I made an appointment at the embassy in Frankfurt for Wednesday 7:30 a.m.. In order not to miss it, my dad and I drove there on Tuesday after I was done at work and crashed at my uncle's. Getting my Visa was annoying but only took like 30 minutes. They check your documents, take your fingerprints a thousand times and ask you 3 questions. That's it. Yes I was surprised/confused too.
We got home at like 9 a.m. and I got a call from the lab that they had to do the tuberculosis test again. So after driving 2 hours in pouring rain I had to drive even more and get a shit ton of blood taken AGAIN.
Apparently I DON'T have tuberculosis (Yay, surprise?)
And then on Saturday morning, my Visa arrived. HOORAAAAY!
This Monday my doctor also completed the health evaluation which was a terrifying experience.
First thing he said when I came in:" Oh hi! Now take off all your clothes" (While I watch was what he must've thought). I just looked at him like he spoke Spanish.. And then I kinda had to do it ending up in the utter realization that I wore the oldest possible underwear I owned. Oh thank you baby Jesus for not telling me that this was gonna happen!

So thaat happened.

Now I had all my documents together and could send everything to my CC home office in Berlin!

I have yet to buy the rest of the welcoming gifts. You'll see pictures of everything once I gave them to my host family :)
